Character Impressions

I enjoy having fun with it all.

Signature Impression Performance

A tailored impression designed around your content and audience.

A More Personal Way to Shape Your Comedy

I build a focused character performance from the details that make an impression land: voice, rhythm, physicality, attitude, and timing. The result is shaped to suit your script, concept, or performance setting rather than treated as a one-size-fits-all routine. Each choice supports a clear comic identity.

The process can accommodate short-form video, sketches, live entertainment, promotional content, or other performance-led formats. I bring a prepared interpretation while staying responsive to direction and the natural energy of the material. You receive a distinctive, polished impression with room for personality and play.

Ideal For

  • Comedy sketches and short-form videos

  • Live entertainment and variety formats

  • Promotional or branded content

  • Original characters inspired by familiar types

How It Works

  1. Share the Concept: Tell me about the character, format, audience, and intended tone.

  2. Shape the Impression: I develop the voice, mannerisms, and comic choices around your material.

  3. Deliver the Performance: I perform the impression with direction tailored to the final content.

About

Built For The Laugh

I am Murray "Murf" Laidlaw, an actor who turns observation, timing, and vocal detail into memorable comedy. My approach combines character work with a sharp sense of rhythm, allowing each impression to feel recognisable while still carrying its own comic point of view. I focus on performance choices that serve the material, the audience, and the moment. For character impressions, I develop the voice, physicality, expressions, and attitude that give each performance its identity. Whether the work calls for a familiar personality, an exaggerated archetype, or an original comic creation, I bring preparation and playfulness to the process. Clients can expect a focused performance shaped around the tone, format, and purpose of their content.
