# Murray "Murf" Laidlaw

> Hi, I’m Murray Laidlaw but my friends call me Murf… or Murf James. I am a Canadian actor working for the railway in my home town of Prince George, BC. I love to tell stories and bring humour, character, and northern spirit to every performance. At the moment I especially love working on my “craft” through characters seen on commercials throughout North America and beyond. I enjoy sharing personal stories on social media as a way to stay comfortable and natural in front of the camera. My approach is relaxed, expressive, and rooted in real life.

- **How does an actor prepare for a role?** Preparation can include understanding the script, researching the character, learning lines, and making thoughtful choices about voice, movement, and emotion. Professional preparation helps an actor stay focused while remaining open to direction.
- **What makes a performance feel authentic?** Authentic performances come from listening, emotional awareness, clear intentions, and a genuine connection to the scene. An actor's ability to respond naturally can make the story feel more relatable and compelling.
